Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours), may include evening and weekend hours; not job-share eligible
Salary: Grade 14, $25.29/hour
Assists the Human Resources Director in providing effective human resources services to all Library agencies. Participates in the administration of and compliance with local, state and federal employment laws, including the FMLA, FLSA, ADAAA, and EEO by maintaining current and in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to the day-to-day management of employees; coordinates the Performance Evaluation process, including training all new supervisors on the process; coordinates the Family Medical Leave (FMLA) and Extended Medical Leave programs in accordance with applicable laws and Library policies and procedures; coordinates the Employee Recognition program; provides high-quality human resources guidance and support to all Library agencies by advising managers and employees on employee relations and performance management issues; resolves complex employee relations issues, and as needed, conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations; provides sound coaching and writes and administers counseling, disciplinary action, and performance improvement plans as necessary; participates in the planning and implementation of human resources policy and procedure and other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated comprehensive and broad knowledge of local, state and federal laws pertaining to human resources management; demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees, demonstrated ability to think and work independently using sound professional judgment; demonstrated problem-solving ability; demonstrated ability to organize work, manage time and meet established deadlines; and demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy, demonstrated experience using Access and HRIS systems preferred. Ten or more years’ experience in professional human resources management, including five or more years of proven employee relations experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field from an accredited university required OR 15+ years of progressive, relevant human resources experience, including five or more years of proven employee relations experience and an Associate’s degree required. Professional Human Resources PHR/SPHR certification preferred; public sector or public library human resources experience preferred. Experience with the administration of FMLA strongly preferred. Experience with the administration of the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA) preferred.
