Locally Green
The city of Akron, the Downtown Akron Partnership, and many downtown businesses are making it easy for the downtown community to recycle. Any recyclable material can be placed in over the 200 containers to be located in the downtown area. There will be recycling containers from Lock 3 to Musica, along parade routes, in parking decks, and for commercial customers.
If you want ideas on how to recycle with minimal effort or how you can lessen your ecological footprint, Business and Government has some great books with simple ideas:
“The green book: the everyday guide to saving the planet one simple step at a time”, by Elizabeth Rogers and Thomas Kostigen has hundreds of easy and accessible tips for those wanting to become more environmentally friendly.
“Practically green: your guide to ecofriendly decision-making”, by Micaela Preston offers simple do-it-yourself projects and ideas for green living. She has recipes for making your own beauty products as well as a list of ingredients to avoid when purchasing personal care products.
“Do one green thing: saving the earth through simple everyday choices”, by Mindy Pennybacker also gives easy and affordable solutions for those wanting to make a difference. Visit her website for more information.
Without investing much time or money, these books will influence the ecofriendly choices made in your daily lives, from food, to work, to clothing, to transportation, and recycling
